Biography of Carlos Arana Osorio

Military and Guatemalan politician, President of Guatemala between 1970 and 1974, born on July 17, 1918 in Barberana (Santa Rosa) and died on December 6, 2003, in Guatemala City.

Graduated from the Academia Militar de Guatemala in 1939, Carlos Manuel Arana Osorio was Undersecretary of defense from 1957 to 1958, and between 1966 and 1967 directed with severity the campaign against peasant guerrillas in the area of Zacapa and the Sierra de las Minas.
