Lawyer and Colombian financial, was born in MedellÃn in 1903 and died in Santa Fe de BogotÃ¡ on January 13, 1957. He made his secondary studies in the Colegio Mayor de Nuestra SeÃ±ora del Rosario. He then joined the National University of Colombia, where he received the degree in law and political science. His occupation was always oriented towards the banking activity, in such a way that is considered one of the top executives of the country’s finances in the first half of the 20th century. In this field, he held several and important positions, as the direction of the Superintendence of banks, the management of the Banco Central Hipotecario (1939) and the Banco de BogotÃ¡ (1947), among others. Since 1947 he was in charge of the management of the Bank of the Republic, until the day of his death.

terature, and to his knowledge of architecture and painting, he had the opportunity to engage in cultural activities. He participated and promoted projects such as the gold Museum, the Casa de la Moneda, the underground Cathedral of our Lady of banter, the center of Social Action, children and the library of the Bank of the Republic, located in the District of La Candelaria de Santa Fe de BogotÃ¡; This library Luis Ãngel Arango, is precisely named in homage to the promoter of the cultural activity of the institution during his administration. With an area of 11,000 square meters of construction, the library is an important center in the cultural life of Colombia. Funded by the Bank of the Republic, it is one of the richest and most organized in the country, with nearly 400,000 volumes. Luis Ãngel Arango always believed that money could not be reduced to the purely material field, but should be a projection and a cultural, extending service to the entire field of human knowledge.
